Plenary sessions, where selected representatives of academia and different industries will report about their field of expertise in SHM or their request for monitoring in applications such as transportation vehicles, machinery, manufacturing plants or buildings. Speakers from industry may not be deeply associated with SHM but should be recognised and distinguished with regard to maintenance and design of engineering structures.

Parallel sessions split in accordance to different scientific topics addressed. In accordance to the experience of the past, 4 parallel sessions will be anticipated. Duration per paper will be 20 minutes including discussion.

The organising team welcomes the initiative to hold special sessions. If interested, please contact tagungen@dgzfp.de. Scheduled Special Sessions you find here.

Poster session will be opened on the first evening of EWSHM 2024 along a reception to be organised on the conference premises and within the exhibition area. Posters will stay during the complete duration of the workshop in the exhibition area, which will also be the area where coffee breaks will be held.

Technology exhibition, where providers of SHM technology will be given the opportunity to exhibit their technology in different booths indoor. Location of the exhibition will also be the area where coffee breaks will be held.

Technology demonstrators: Five SHM technology demonstrators are currently intended to be displayed outdoor within the workshop venue yard, where different sensing and signal processing techniques and possibly even numerical simulations will be demonstrated, that will also be part of various presentations within the different technical sessions. These demonstrators will include:

  • CFRP fuselage section of an aircraft structure equipped with a network of integrated piezoelectric sensors for the application of ultrasonic guided waves as well as acoustic emission
  • GFRP pressure vessel
  • Reinforced concrete beam structure for implementation and analysis of different NDT techniques
  • Austenitic steel pipe within the context of hydrogen transport
  • Steel beam under 3-point bending as a basis of a digital twin to develop and validate SHM systems in terms of monitoring stress, strain and any kind of degradation.

Post workshop technical visits to testing facilities and SHM technology, sensor and SHM applications.

Preworkshop seminars to selected topics if specific distinguished tutors can be found. It should be noted that the big air show ILA just finishes on June 9, 2024, the day before EWSHM 2024 will start. A guided tour through ILA with a specific focus on SHM is currently explored to be organised on that day.
